INDOOR CLASSROOM

 

Thematic sensory bin: A large bin to play, learn, touch and explore different types of sensory items like ice and water, colorful beans and rice, pinecones, sea shells, etc.

 

Dramatic play: Features a child size kitchen, table and chairs, dress up clothes and accessories, baby dolls, cash register, puppets, and more.

 

Open-ended play: Wooden building blocks, train tracks, building logs, a marble-run, magnetic tiles,

and large Lego bricks allow children to spread out on the carpet and get creative.

 

Reading corner: A sunny corner with large windows, bookshelf, and child size padded chairs to relax with a favorite book.

 

Science/Math center: A table where children will be able to balance, sort, analyze, touch, smell, measure, and count among other things.  This center will teach and enrich math vocabulary as well.

 

Art table: A place to draw, write and create independently.

 

Circle Time: A structured time featuring books, felt stories, and songs.  This experience helps to build your child’s attention span in preparation for Kindergarten and beyond.

Pikler triangles and ramps: An open-ended, Montessori inspired activity for climbing and developing large motor skills and balance.

                 OUTDOOR EXPLORATION


Treehouse: A huge climbing structure with two levels and a slide.

 

Painting easels:  Easels are valuable tools to promote sensory growth where children can create and also develop their abilities by reaching and crossing their midline to paint or draw.

 

Large sandbox: Dump trucks, shovels, metal pots, cupcake tins, allow for cooperation and imaginative play.

 

Raised vegetable bed:  Children will experience the wonder of watching plants grow from seeds.  A nice place to develop an appreciation for nature.  

 

Tree perch: A small perch nestled between two trees accessed by a rock wall inspired climbing ramp.

Water sensory bin: A place to splash, transfer water, mix colors or make bubbles.

​

Large table for messy art projects: This location is perfect for glitter, glue, wet sand, etc. where kids can be free to play and making a mess is the intention.

 

Child-sized picnic table: Set on the large patio, the table is perfect for eating a snack or lunch outside on a beautiful sunny day.

The Butterfly Project

We have created a Monarch butterfly friendly habitat by planting Milkweed for the caterpillars and flowering plants for the butterflies. In doing so, Blakeley Basics became certified Monarch Waystation #28837!
