Hello and thank you for stopping by to learn more about Blakeley Basics, a preschool where kids play to learn.  Kristen Edwards Sloane, a credentialed teacher and Education Specialist, is the founder and owner of this private, home-based preschool.  A student-athlete and graduate of UC Berkeley, she went on to earn two teaching credentials, eventually enabling her to acquire both short and long term substitute teaching positions during her years with Irvine Unified School District.  She's excited to be a 22 year resident of the Northwood community, and whose three sons all attended IUSD schools and graduated from Northwood High School.

 

A few years ago, Kristen earned her Education Specialist credential to allow her to serve children with mild to moderate needs.  This teaching experience enables her to customize learning activities for many ages and stages of development.

 

Kristen's education, years of teaching, and preschool experience have allowed her to design a preschool program that is not only “back to the basics” but also promotes growth of essential skills like cooperation, social-emotional awareness, and kindness into everyday activities.
